The Story of Mentrix

Our Story

Mentrix was founded in 2015 to provide technology architecture, design and development services. Over the years, we have worked with clients like The Economist, The Wikimedia Foundation, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Global Strategy Group to modernize their information systems. We have partnered with other firms, like Kanopi Studios and webStepOne to better meet the needs of our clients.

We are currently working with a select group of clients to architect and build information systems that leverage modern tools. Our speciality is transforming legacy digital information systems, using modern approaches.

Increasingly, we are focused on publishing learning experiences for technology professionals. Our passion is systems and we want to enable everyone to develop systems thinking skills and approaches. While we’ve always contributed talks and workshops to conference events, this year we are teaching more than ever. And publishing books, newsletters and courses that empower nonlinear thinking and approaches.

In 2024, we will launch a learning center for systems design. Keep in touch to find out more!

Our Founder

Diana Montalion has nearly twenty years experience delivering technology initiatives, independently or as part of a professional services group, to clients including Stanford, The Gates Foundation and Teach For All. She has served as principal architect for The Economist and The Wikimedia Foundation.

Before learning to code, Diana was an actor and freelance writer, selected for the Stonecoast Writers Conference and trained in creative nonfiction by her mentor Professor Diana Hume George. She has been published in print and digital products including the Linux Journal, Cisco’s Packet Magazine (now defunct) and Sage Woman.  She has taught improv classes and later discovered that tech and improv has a lot in common.

Throughout her tech career, Diana has spoken at many events — thus proving my mother wrong, “theater major” wasn’t a waste of money after all. She has developed sold-out training programs for four different organizations and was Global Chair for DrupalCon.

She is currently writing the O’Reilly book Learning Systems Thinking, due out in October 2024. You can take her online trainings at events, online or on the O’Reilly platform.
